Karen Mae Simpson - Massage, Reflexology, Reiki
In our society today, things are becoming increasingly fast. We don’t seem to have time for ourselves. We are constantly on the move whether it is taking the children to school, rushing to get into work on time; catching up with the last dozen emails that have just popped into your inbox, a quick bite on the run for lunch or working through your lunch break because the work is mounting up.
The idea of bringing complementary therapies together with relaxation techniques into the workplace is not something new. It has been around for ages. In November 2004, the government issued a white paper on health and they are encouraging all business communities to bring the awareness of health into the workplace.
Bringing awareness of health to all employees, including those would not normally think or have time to stop and think about things that are actually affecting their health – e.g. stress related conditions – IBS, ADDH, nutrition, exercise. Complementary therapies take a holistic view on looking at clients as a whole and there are suggested ways in helping them improve their health and lifestyle.
This awareness programme is not here just for your employees but for your families too. Are our next generation becoming obese because we don’t have time to provide good healthy nutritious food, we don’t know how to relax, we don’t have time to exercise or we don’t have the knowledge on how we can better provide for ourselves let alone our children?
When will we stop and start to think about our health - when we have been diagnosed with a serious illness such as cancer or diabetes - or do we wait until it is too late?
So what are you going to do about it?
- Get more activities in the workplace that can offer good advice.
- Take note of this advice and put it into practice.
- Pass this awareness on to your friends and family.
- Get motivated!
Remember you are solely responsible for your own mind, body and soul
