About Karen
I became interested in reflexology and complementary therapies when I
came to Scotland 10 years ago and began suffering from hay fever. I suffered
so badly that my eyes would close completely and I wasn’t able to see. After
seeing the doctor and trying all the antihistamines, nasal sprays, etc and
nothing seemed to work, I decided to go and see a reflexologist. After I had
the treatment, I went to watch cricket and lay on the lawn. I couldn’t
believe that I didn’t have a runny nose, my eyes were not itchy and I felt
great. I decided that there was more to this so I decided to look into it
further.
I went to an evening class for 6 weeks to see if reflexology was the right thing for me and also if I could work with feet! I was hooked! I found it really fascinating and decided to go ahead and study it. In July 2002, I graduated from the Scottish School of Reflexology. Once I had completed the reflexology, I decided to learn Indian Head Massage at the Rosemount Centre for Complementary Therapies. I then started my business in September 2002.
Since 2002, I have also studied Reiki I and II; Emotional Freedom Technique, acquired the Aqua Detox and have recently completed my studies on Swedish Massage. I also enjoy reading about the body, nutrition, diets and ways to maintain a healthy mind, body and soul. The more I get involved with my therapies, the more hungry I get for knowledge!
I belong to the Scottish Institute of Reflexology (S.I.R), which is one of the regulating bodies for reflexology in Scotland. I am also a member of the Independent Professional Therapists International (M.I.P.T.I.), which provides information, insurance and is another regulating body for the other therapies.
