Indian Head Massage
Indian Head
Massage is a de-stressing programme for the whole body but it is only
applied to the upper part of the body - the shoulders, back, neck, head and
face. By having Indian Head Massage, this increases circulation to the
scalp, relieves tension to the neck, shoulders and arms. It restores the
energy flow and gives one a sense of deep relaxation. Indian Head Massage is
highly effective when treating conditions such as mental tiredness,
eyestrain, headaches and migraines. It improves concentration and boosts the
immune system. It is defined as the 'science of longevity' and promotes
health, beauty and long life.
This massage has been handed down from generation to generation. It was traditionally developed by women, who used oils such as coconut, sesame and mustard seed to keep their long hair strong and beautiful. It was performed by barbers and masseuse as part of their treatment but now it is performed in India on street corners, markets or even on the beach.
Probably the
most suitable treatment for the workplace as it can be performed through
light clothing from a seated position and benefits can be seen from very
short treatments lasting from as short as 10 minutes. The use of oils on the
scalp is optional. Although it is possible to perform this treatment at a
person's desk or workstation, it is advisable for a private area to be
provided to avoid any distractions whilst the treatment is being carried
out.
