Reiki
Reiki – pronounced Ray-Key – is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. In Eastern philosophy and medicine, this form of energy is the energy of creation, and it nourishes and sustains life. Everyone has this energy flowing through them to a greater or lesser extent. In times of stress and illness it becomes restricted or diminished.
It is a form of healing, which is non-invasive. Reiki is suitable for children, pets, the frail, injured or even for someone who has undergone surgery. Because Reiki can be done through materials, there is no need to remove clothing and it can be done through a plaster cast to speed up the healing process on a broken bone. Reiki balances the body emotionally, physically and spiritually on all levels. Reiki supports the body to heal itself; cleanses the body of toxins and poisons; loosens any blocked energies and promotes a feeling of deep relaxation.
Reiki is an experience that speaks to our entire being through sensation, feelings and insight. It is not an intellectual process. Some may see whirls of vibrant colour or dreamlike images when their eyes are shut, feel the treated areas as hot or cold, or sense the energy tingling and flowing through the body. Others may feel nothing at all but this does not mean that there is nothing happening because there is. Almost everyone finds that Reiki is relaxing and peaceful. Each session will be unique, because the body draws through and uses the energy in whatever way it most needs at the time. The energy flows through the therapist’s hands to areas in the body that need healing.
Reiki is perfect for use in everyday life. It is a wonderful way to de-stress after a busy day and if used regularly it is a great health maintenance routine. So why not try it?
